About us
In 1999 I met my husband, Zack, fell madly in love and moved
in with him. After the initial ‘honeymoon’ period
when all is rosy and nothing is an issue, I started to take
an objective look at my new surroundings. With Zack being a
sufferer of chemical sensitivity I had ventured into a home
environment which was particularly bland and uninspiring, with
unbleached calico covering virtually every surface and a distinct,
and somewhat dated, ‘hippy’ vibe! Being from an
interior design background, it soon became apparent to me that
this dwelling would need to be adapted if we were both going
to be able to enjoy living there.
And so my mission began, trying to source home furnishing products
which would fulfil Zack’s needs without compromising my
desire for a contemporary and enjoyable living environment.
After countless hours of research I gradually established a
range of suppliers and craftspeople who would meet the criteria
of producing well-designed, fairly-traded lifestyle products
with minimal environmental impact.
A few years on I decided to try to share my knowledge, skills
and discoveries by launching a company which promoted this way
of living and ‘Eco Inspiration’ was born! The official
launch took place at the Centre for Alternative Technology in
Wales in April 2006, where we were commissioned to design the
interior of their new ‘Eco-House’. Since then we
have been busy promoting and expanding other areas of our company.
We are primarily a home furnishings, interior design consultancy
and web-based shop offering contemporary, fairly traded and
eco-friendly products and advice for a more sustainable lifestyle.
Our attendance of an increasing amount of fairs and shows has
given us the opportunity to showcase the full range of our products,
from natural toiletries, fairly traded jewellery and children’s
toys to eco-friendly floorings, furnishings and paints.
We are excited to be the first company in the UK to offer an
exclusively designed range of upholstered furniture, free from
any chemical ‘nasties’ and completely organic. Another
new addition to our company is eco office , a consultancy service
offering advice to companies on how to adopt a more environmentally
friendly approach both in the workplace and company as a whole,
offering not only the recognition and prestige associated with
good environmental practice but also a range of monetary incentives
and savings, and a healthier working environment for their employees.
Finally, eco kids ‘is a bespoke service we are now offering
aimed at advising parents and carers on how to ensure their
children’s main play and sleeping areas are as non-toxic
and healthy as possible.
Small changes can have a global impact. If we all take simple
steps to live a more environmentally friendly and healthy lifestyle,
the effects on our planet can be colossal. By being part of
that we stand a much better chance of a much better future.
Our message is simple; BE the change!
